Journal · Welcome letter

A space for time, care and material

By Daniela Ossandón · Nacimiento collection

Welcome to this space. It was made to share a way of making, but also a way of seeing.

I have worked with ceramics for more than ten years. In that time I have learned that a piece does not begin when hands touch clay. It begins earlier: in a shape noticed during a walk, in the colour that light leaves on a stone, in the memory of a landscape, or in the need to pause.

Ceramics taught me to respect the rhythms of matter. There are moments to intervene and others to wait. Clay must dry. Glaze must find its path. Fire must complete what the hand can only begin. Nothing happens immediately, and nothing happens exactly the same way again.

Each piece is therefore a singular gesture—not an imperfect copy of another, but a form that could exist only in this way and at this moment.

This Journal will record that process: the territories that inspire the collections, the trials that remain in the studio, the materials, the questions and everything that happens as a piece finds its form.

Nacimiento, the first collection, gathers the objects with which this space opens. Its name speaks of the beginning of a creative home and of every quiet transformation between earth, water, air, time and fire.

Thank you for being here and for accompanying this beginning. I hope these pieces enter everyday life with the same calm with which they were made: to hold, accompany and remind us that carefully made things have a different relationship with time.
